Winter Works began in 1978.
The store was first located at Rita's (now called The John Sterling Harbor House) at the top of dock hill. Other locations included Elva's Old PO, the work shop across from Novelty, and Carina.
In the winter of 1992 there was a major shift when The Spa closed. Lupine Gallery moved from Newt's shed and took up new residence at The Spa. Meanwhile, Winter Works moved over to where Lupine Gallery had been at Newt's Shed. Winter Works has remained there ever since.
All of our members joined Winter Works while living year-round on Monhegan. A few have moved away but remain strongly connected to the island.
